Mr. R., a 50 year-old white male, presented himself to our office complaining about palpitation. Since he doesn’t have any health insurance, he can’t afford to go through all the conventional tests for the heart diseases. Before he came to the office, he did take medications for his hypertension, but the medications made his palpitation even worse, and his blood pressure went to a very high level. He had to stop all the medications and searched for the alternatives. We found out Mr. R. had irregular heart beat, every 3 beats there was 1 premature beat. He couldn't sleep flat and had cough frequently. His legs were swollen to the knees, and he had very poor appetite, fatigue, insomnia and slow urine flow. He looked very pale. We suspect he had heart failure. Chinese herbal formula and acupuncture were administered and performed for 3 months, the patient now is free of fatigue. He sleeps well at night and can sleep flat. His urine flow is much stronger. His legs’ swollen reduced to both feet, only a little being seen. His blood pressure constantly stays on the level of 130/80. During the whole treatment period with TCM, he did not take any conventional medications. That is why he introduced his wife who had severe asthma for her whole life to our office for treatment.
